Please welcome our new high school social studies teacher, Anna Callis! Anna attended Grand Valley State University and got two degrees, one in Secondary Education and the other in Social Studies. After graduating, she taught World History in Detroit for 2 years since she is originally from Livonia, MI. She moved up to Huron County a year ago with her boyfriend Ian and their cat Biscuit! They moved to Harbor Beach since Ian got a job at McClaren Hospital as a pharmacist. Since moving up here, she has worked as a Reading Interventionist and a Para at North Huron Elementary. When she saw the posting for a social studies position at HB she was so excited for the opportunity to get back to teaching history! Her hobbies are reading, relaxing at the beach, hiking, playing with her cat Biscuit, and cooking/ baking. Her favorite part of teaching is getting to know the students and coming up with engaging activities and lessons. Anna is super excited for an amazing school year at HB!

Meet Heather Andrzejewski! She is our new Athletic, Transportation, and Student Service secretary. She is originally from Harbor Beach, Class of 1991 Alumni. Heather lived in the metro Detroit area for 25 years but moved home 2 years ago to be closer to family. She is excited to be here and show her pirate pride that has stayed with her. She looks forward to many beach days, enjoying time with my family, and being involved in the community.

Meet our new elementary secretary, Trinity Weeks! Trinity is originally from Olivet, Michigan, and attended Saginaw Valley State University. She was led to Harbor Beach when she met some friends from the area at college and had the opportunity to visit. In her last year of college, she decided to move 3 hours from her hometown and start her new chapter here! Her hobbies and interests include crocheting, golfing, fishing, and playing softball. Her favorite color is lavender and her favorite superhero is Captain America. She absolutely LOVES Disney movies, as well as Star Wars and Marvel movies. This year she is most excited to be a part of something new. She cannot wait for the students to be in the halls, smiling and waving as they pass by my office! It's going to be a great year!

Another familiar face to many, meet Miss Haylie Essenmacher! She will be teaching 4th grade this year. Miss Essenmacher graduated high school from HBCS in 2019, received her bachelor's degree from Western Governors University in December 2023, and will be completing her Master's degree, also from Western Governors University, before the beginning of the school year! She has been a familiar face at the school for the past four school years as she has been in various roles throughout the elementary school and she loves everything about our district! She is looking forward to a great school year and says as always, Go Pirates!🧡🖤

Meet our next new staff member, Rebecca Roggenbuck! Rebecca is the new Academic & Career Readiness Advisor. She will also be spending a few hours of her day teaching special education. She graduated from Harbor Beach Community Schools in 2014 and received her bachelor's degree from Saginaw Valley State University. After working at a neighboring school for the past 5 years she is so excited to be back as a Pirate! She lives on a farm outside Harbor Beach with her husband and two children. When she is not spending time with her kids, she enjoys reading, going to country music concerts, and spending time outdoors. She can't wait to meet all of the wonderful students at Harbor Beach and is looking forward to a great year!

Introducing our next "new" staff member (who will look familiar!), Jackie Soper! Mrs. Soper is so excited to be teaching 10th and 12th grade ELA this year, in addition to the 6th grade Life Skills class she taught last year! She went to college at Michigan Technological University where she graduated with a BS in Business Administration and a Secondary Teaching Certification. She also has a Masters Degree from Spring Arbor University. She and her husband Kevin both grew up in the Thumb. They started dating while at Caro High School. After graduating college, they often moved for Kevin’s job with Dow Chemical/Corteva. They are happy to call Harbor Beach home after being here for the last eight years. They have two sons who both attend HBCS. Hackett is a senior and Tobin will be in 4th grade. Her favorite hobbies are reading, writing, and cooking. For the last few years, she has loved watching the Iowa Women's Basketball team so this summer she has been watching the WNBA and cheering on Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin. She is happiest living simply and spending time together as a family. She loves being back in the classroom and cannot wait to be with her new students this year. Her passion is helping students learn about themselves, the world around them, and helping them be the best humans they can be.

Back to school season is here! This summer, we have added some fantastic members to our staff and we would like to introduce them to you. Our first feature is Rodney Terwilliger! Mr. Terwilliger is from Bad Axe. He graduated a "Hatchet", but is now a "Pirate". He comes to Harbor Beach Schools from Our Lady of Lake Huron School, where he taught 4th and 5th grades. Mr. Terwilliger will teach special education for Harbor Beach and is very enthusiastic about the new opportunities and exciting challenges awaiting him. He received his B.A. from Siena Height University and his M.F.A. from Eastern Michigan University. In addition to teaching young minds, he enjoys reading good books, watching intense sports, and hanging out with family. Literature and History are his favorite subjects. He also makes a mean double chocolate-chocolate chip cookie.
