On Saturday morning, American Degrees were awarded at the National FFA Convention. This is the highest degree awarded in FFA. Students must meet requirements for earnings in agriculture, community service and FFA involvement. It is awarded to members within the first few years after high school graduation to less than 1% of members. It is a great achievement, and a high honor. Congratulations to Devin Siemen, Steven Scholtz & Logan Kanaski!

Thank you for all that you do for the students of HBCS!

First grade had so much fun heading outside during PE this week to soak up the beautiful weather and learn how to play Gaga ball!

Craving some basketball in your life? Middle school girl's basketball games start next week!

An FFA National Convention update from Indianapolis:
On Day 2, the convention was in full swing. Students went to the NCAA Hall of Champions, where they learned about college sports and were able to try some out. They also attended the opening session, which featured a great guest speaker, and the career show and expo. The evening wrapped up with a rodeo!

Our JV Football team wrapped up their season last night and our volleyball teams each brought home victories!

The 3rd day of the National FFA Convention was spent at the Expo. Students talked to college representatives, played games to win hats and shirts, and talked to FFA members from around the country. After the convention, we went to Royal Pin for tacos, bowling, laser tag, and mini golf.

Our FFA has 9 high school students attending the 97th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this week. They joined students from North Huron, Ubly, Chesaning, and Lakers to share a bus and tours.
They stopped at Eastern Michigan Food Bank and packed over 10,000 lbs of food that will be distributed to senior citizens around Michigan.
Their second stop was at the Flint Farmers Market, where students did a scavenger hunt to explore the market and ate lunch.
Their last stop on day 1 was at Raker's Greenhouse. Students learned about running a commercial greenhouse.
Watch for more as the FFA member continues their week in Indianapolis!

Today the PR class welcomed a special guest in! Reporter Katy Snodgrass from the Huron Daily Tribune reached out to Mrs. Wilson, the PR class teacher, interested in coming in to interview students about their experiences in the class. She also gave them time to ask her questions about her role as a reporter, which they learned was an awful lot like their roles! Thank you Katy for spending time with our students!

The best Friday of the month is almost here-POPCORN FRIDAY!

If you have attended a home football game this year, you have likely watched our two awesome band field commanders, Mark and Brody, in action. The PR team sat down with them to learn a little more about their role!
How long have been the field commander?
Mark: 2 years
Brody: 1 year
What made you want to become a field commander?
Mark: I was friends with Sam, the previous field commander, and he told him that it was fun. Brody: Also, it has a whistle!
What are your duties?
Mark/Brody: We teach marching to new members, lead the band when the teacher isn't there, and are overall leaders in the band.
What is your favorite part of being a field commander?
Mark/Brody: The whistle!
What advice do you have for students who take on this role in the future?
Mark: Don't take it too seriously and have fun with it!
Brody: You don't have absolute power so don't think you do.
Way to lead, Mark & Brody!

Congratulations on your fantastic season middle school cross country runners!

Our second-grade mathematicians did an awesome job today working on their two-digit addition by completing a write-the-room Candy Corn Math activity.

Zero the Hero came to visit Kindergarten for the 40th day of school. Together they counted in several fun ways, including vampire, bird, and jumping.
