Next Wednesday, April 24, is 4th grade lunch day! Thanks to the Healthy Meals Incentive Grant that the district received, Mrs. Cook & the cafeteria staff have worked with multiple grade levels to design a special lunch each month. Check out what our 4th graders chose! (This is a change from the originally published lunch menu; April 25th will now be chef salad, baked potato, and breadstick as these two days have just been flipped.)

Last night, the Harbor Beach Education Endowments (HBEE) signed an agreement with Huron County Community Foundation (HCCF) to form in part the Pirate Fund. With donations from the Harbor Beach Athletic Association and other contributors, the HB Pirate Fund has reached the $10,000 minimum required to spark activities and scholarships to benefit students. A huge and ambitious goal of the HBEE is partnering with the HCCF and a financial institution to create Child Savings Accounts which means every HBCS student will receive a monetary amount from the fund. A generous donation from the Storrs Family Trust makes this possible. The sincere intent of the HBEE is that every child who attends HBCS will receive a financial benefit from the Storrs Family donation upon successful graduation. Today is only the beginning of a very energetic endeavor of many people including the HB Board of Education, Administration and Community Members. This dedication to students is a prime example of our Pirate culture!

Next week the Caro Post, along with Caro PD, Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office, and the 3rd District Traffic Team will be doing a traffic initiative. Three days next week, strict enforcement will be directed towards Michigan’s Hands-Free Law (cannot hold a phone while driving) and Move-Over Law. This initiative will be in Tuscola and Huron Counties. We are sharing this information as many of our student drivers may or may not be aware of the law and want to ensure that they are as safe as possible while driving.

If you need to excuse your child due to illness/other reasons, please call the school office at (989) 479-3261.

Mrs. George and Ms. Schelke’s (Mrs. Richard’s) PreK 4/5 preschool class would like to do a Community Service project for our upcoming field trip on May 28th, 2024. They will be going to Saving Grace Miniature Horse Rescue (https://www.sgminihorserescue.com/). The preschool class would like to take some items that are on their wish list with them to donate to their rescue. This will give the kids experience in giving instead of receiving, the kids are very excited about taking items down to donate to help out with the care of the horses. This field trip will help them learn about how to care for and help an animal in need. If you would like to help our little ones out by donating you may drop off items in the Elementary or High school office. Here are some of the items on Saving Grace’s wish list:
