Hallways were AMAZING this year! The theme was: CAREERS.
Students have voted and chosen their Homecoming Court!
On Thursday, September 17, Harbor Beach Community High School launched its new HB P.A.S.S. (promoting academic and social success) peer mentor program it adopted from Yale High School. HB P.A.S.S groups 3 to 8 freshmen with 2 to 3 seniors. Mentor groups meet at least once a week during WIN time with the purpose of building relationships of friendship, support, mentorship, and leadership. Each week students will participate in activities such as icebreakers, anti-bullying programs, goal setting, tutoring, and senior-to-freshman advising.
Our AP Computer Science A students are ready to begin programming! They are all holding their "programming ducks", a gift from their AP teacher, Mr. Roggenbuck as recognition of their programming journey. While all our AP CS A students have completed at least Programming I, many of our students choose to take multiple CS courses here at Harbor Beach!
There has been a major project completed here at Harbor Beach Community Schools. Thanks to our community's support, we were able to pass a bond that allowed us to complete major roofing projects and the purchase of new technology equipment. This computer lab boasts not only new computers, but furniture, flooring, and wiring!
The new lab space boasts 48 classroom computers, 12 high-end "gaming" computers for advanced courses and eSports, 3 TVs and 6 recliners in our eSports space, and our STEM/Robotics workspace. All monitors have a 24" 1080p resolution and our eSports computers run RTX 2060 GPUs. This truly is a learning space that will not only meet the needs of our students today, but of the future as well.
